Let's skip the legal theater. Here's how we actually handle your data at PickModular.

The Quick Version

We collect the bare minimum to run this site. We don't sell your information. We don't spam you. If you want your data deleted, we'll delete it. That's pretty much it.

What We Collect

When You Create an Account

Your email address. That's how you log in. We also store whatever profile info you decide to add: name, bio, profile picture, social links. All optional except the email.

When You Comment

We save your comment, your display name, and your email. The email helps us identify you if you come back later and lets us reach you if there's a problem with your comment. We don't show your email to anyone else.

When You Browse

Standard server logs. IP address, browser type, what pages you visited. We use this to spot problems and keep things running. We're not building a profile on you or following you around the internet.

Cookies

We use a few cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. That's it. No tracking cookies. No third-party advertising cookies. No creepy fingerprinting stuff.

If you've ever wondered why some sites seem to know everything about you, it's not us. We genuinely don't care what you bought on Amazon last week.

Third-Party Services

Firebase Authentication handles the login flow. It's Google's service, so their privacy policy applies to that piece. We picked it because it's secure and we didn't want to build our own authentication system. (Nobody should build their own authentication system.)

Analytics - If we use any, it'll be something privacy-focused like Plausible. No personal data, just aggregate numbers so we know if anyone's actually reading this stuff. We'll update this section if we add analytics.

We use affiliate links to make money. When you click one and buy something, we get a small commission. The affiliate programs can see that a click came from our site, but they don't know who you are unless you tell them.

What We Don't Do

  • Sell your information. To anyone. Ever.
  • Send you marketing emails you didn't sign up for.
  • Share your data with advertisers.
  • Use your content to train AI models.
  • Track you across other websites.
  • Build advertising profiles on you.

If any of this changes, we'll tell you. But it won't change.

Your Data, Your Call

Want to know what data we have on you? Just ask. Want it deleted? Done. You can also delete your account from your profile settings, and we'll wipe everything.

If you're in the EU, you've got GDPR rights. California? CCPA. Wherever you are, we'll treat your data request the same way: seriously and quickly.

Security

We use standard security practices. Encrypted connections, secure authentication, that sort of thing. We don't store passwords (Firebase handles that). We don't keep data we don't need.

No system is perfect. If you find a security issue, please tell us. We'll fix it and be grateful you let us know.

Changes to This Policy

If we change something meaningful here, we'll actually tell you. Not through some buried notification, but really tell you. Probably an email and a note on the site.

The date at the top shows when we last updated this. If you're reading this years from now, check that date.
